New - "Phoenix" Sport Jet Coming Soon! In cooperation with Houston Hobbies and Houston Composite Jets (http://www.hcjets.com), our newly formed jet company, we are gearing up to offer a new turbine sport jet for the radio controlled jet market. Currently we are designing this jet for the 18 to 24lbs thrust turbines, but will mostly likely also release a smaller version for the 12 to 14lbs thrust turbines. We are currently finalizing some design changes and will began construction of our first prototype. To aid in construction we are also in the process of constructing a CNC Router and CNC Foam Cutter to insure that we can turn out a high quality turbine jet. For details of the two machines just mentioned, click on the "Tips" link from the navigation menu above. Specifications: Kit Details: Construction Details: Our proof of concept construction NEW Update - Build Pictorial 12-14-04 - The Sport Jet finally
gets a name! We have chosen it to be called "Phoenix"
sport jet. 12-12-04 - Construction of our prototype has begun! See the BUILD PICTORIAL. 12-02-04 - Pictures have been posted of Concept #2, click the link above to see. I am now working on the internal former construction method and main wings. 11-29-04 - Final design changes have been completed and a second mockup has been constructed with 1/4" foam board.. The overall size has been scaled down to insure that a 18 to 24lb turbine can be used. Finalizing the designs of the internal formers and soon to began work towards the wing design and support structure. Will post some construction updates and pictures soon. 11-22-04 - After sitting back and taking a look at everything and also consulting with a few other jet guys and model builders I have decided to scale everything down quite a bit. I really liked such a "Big" sport jet, but I want to release a sport jet for the 18 to 24lbs turbines. And at the current size, I don't think performance is going to be what I will like. So the nice thing about designing stuff in CAD is the ability to scale down everything quickly. A second mockup build with 1/4" foam board is in the works and pictures should be posted shortly. The next mockup will be built in sections to see how common size balsa & lite ply sheets will come together to form the fuselage. 11-17-04 - Finalizing some design improvements / changes. 09-20-04 - Start drawing the sport jet in TurboCad |
